PIA Announces Up to 40% Reduction in Airfares for Saudi Arabia Routes

Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a significant reduction of up to 40% in ticket prices for passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia.
According to a PIA spokesperson speaking to Urdu News, the discount has come into immediate effect from May 5, 2026. The fare reduction primarily applies to flights operating between Pakistan and the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Dammam.
These routes are considered among the busiest for Pakistani travelers, as a large number of workers, businesspeople, and families regularly travel to Saudi Arabia.
The airline stated that the move aims to reduce the financial burden of rising airfares and provide more affordable travel options to passengers.
PIA remains a key carrier for millions of travelers between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, especially for those traveling for Hajj, Umrah, or employment purposes.
Regarding flight operations, the airline confirmed that multiple weekly flights are currently operating from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to Riyadh and Dammam, with most being direct services that reduce travel time and inconvenience.
Passengers have been advised to book tickets in advance, as discounted fares are expected to lead to high demand and early seat occupancy. Tickets can be booked through PIA’s official website, call center, and authorized travel agents.
The decision comes at a time when global fuel prices have fluctuated and competition on international routes has intensified, particularly from Gulf carriers operating in the Pakistani market. This has increased pressure on the national carrier to offer better services and competitive pricing.
Aviation expert Raja Kamran noted that airlines typically introduce promotional fares after peak Hajj operations when passenger demand temporarily declines. He added that increased seat availability during regular seasons often encourages airlines to offer discounts to attract travelers.
Saudi Arabia-bound Pakistani travelers include a large number of workers who frequently visit for employment contracts, as well as Umrah pilgrims and business travelers, making these routes consistently busy throughout the year.
The 40% fare reduction is being viewed as major relief for passengers at a time when overall travel and living costs remain high.
