Germany Says No Direct Deal with Iran Over Strait of Hormuz Shipping

Berlin: Germany has clarified that it is not seeking any direct agreement with Iran to ensure maritime passage through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

A German government spokesperson stated that while countries like China and India have reportedly made direct arrangements with Iran for the movement of their vessels, Germany is not pursuing any such deal.

The spokesperson added that Berlin is currently monitoring the situation and prefers to wait for de-escalation of military tensions in the region so that normal shipping operations can resume.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global chokepoint for oil and gas supplies, and ongoing instability has raised concerns about disruptions to international trade and energy markets.
