Complaint Filed Against Hardik Pandya Over World Cup Celebration with Friend

A legal complaint has reportedly been filed against Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya over his celebration following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory.
According to Indian media reports, Pandya celebrated the win on the field with his friend Mahika Sharma while draped in the Indian national flag. The act was later criticized by a lawyer who alleged that the celebration was inappropriate and disrespectful to the flag.
Advocate Wajid Khan has submitted a request to police seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the cricketer. In the complaint, he argued that Pandya wrapped the Indian tricolor around his body and engaged in behavior that violated the dignity of the national flag.
The lawyer requested authorities to take legal action under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, stating that maintaining the respect and dignity of the national flag is the responsibility of every citizen.
The complaint has been submitted to the police in Pune, and officials are expected to review the request before deciding whether to register a case.
Reports also noted that Mahika Sharma was present on the field during the celebrations after India defeated New Zealand in the final to secure the World Cup title.
