PCB Fines Pakistani Cricketers Rs 5 Million Each for Poor T20 World Cup Performance

**Karachi:** The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed fines of Rs 5 million on each player following a disappointing campaign in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The decision, sources say, was made after Pakistan’s loss to India national cricket team.
According to insiders, the PCB has sent a clear message to players: excessive leniency is over, and financial rewards will now depend strictly on performance. Poor performances will be penalized, while consistent high-level displays will earn players their deserved incentives.
### T20 World Cup 2026 Campaign Review
* Pakistan narrowly escaped defeat against the Netherlands in the opening match.
* The team defeated the United States but failed to deliver the expected performance against India, despite familiarity with Sri Lankan conditions and a strong spin bowling attack.
* Pakistan defeated Namibia to secure a spot in the Super 8s, but rain affected the match against New Zealand.
* A loss to England made semi-final qualification uncertain. Although England later defeated New Zealand, Pakistan’s narrow win against Sri Lanka was insufficient to improve the run rate, allowing New Zealand to advance while Pakistan’s campaign ended.
### Financial Penalties and Player Salaries
* Each player was fined Rs 5 million, with the announcement communicated immediately after the India match.
* National cricketers earn annual salaries in crores. A-category players receive Rs 4.5 million per month plus Rs 2.07 million from ICC revenue shares, while B-category players earn Rs 3 million per month with Rs 1.5525 million ICC share.
PCB officials emphasized that the fines are part of a strategy to instill accountability and motivate players to perform at their best on the international stage.
