FIA Registers Case Against 10 Deported Pakistanis, Launches Crackdown on Human Smugglers
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against 10 Pakistani nationals deported from Türkiye after they were caught attempting to cross the border illegally, while also intensifying its crackdown on the human trafficking network that allegedly facilitated their journey.
According to media reports, the deported individuals were taken into custody by immigration authorities immediately upon their arrival at Islamabad International Airport. They were later handed over to the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Islamabad for further investigation.
An FIA spokesperson said preliminary investigations revealed that all 10 individuals had contacted human smugglers and travel agents in an attempt to reach destinations abroad through illegal routes.
Investigators found that the migrants had paid amounts ranging from Rs200,000 to Rs1.2 million per person to the agents, who allegedly promised to arrange their travel through unauthorized and high-risk border crossings instead of legal immigration channels.
According to the FIA, Turkish authorities arrested the group while they were attempting to cross the border illegally. After completing legal formalities, the individuals were deported to Pakistan.
Based on statements provided by the deportees and evidence collected during the investigation, FIA officials said raids are being conducted at multiple locations to arrest the agents and human smugglers involved in the operation.
The agency said action against organized human trafficking networks is ongoing and vowed to bring all those involved to justice.
The FIA also urged citizens to avoid illegal migration routes and not fall victim to promises of overseas employment or a better future through unauthorized channels, warning that such attempts can result in arrest, deportation, legal action, and serious risks to life.
