Balochistan CM Reaffirms Support for Kashmiris in Meeting With Hurriyat Leader

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized issue that must be resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The chief minister made the remarks during a meeting with All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Hassan Banna, where the two discussed the latest situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination, and the overall regional situation.

During the meeting, Hassan Banna appreciated the Government of Balochistan and Chief Minister Bugti for consistently expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people and highlighting the Kashmir issue at various national and international forums.

Bugti said the Kashmir dispute is an international issue awaiting resolution under the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, adding that a just and lasting solution is not possible without granting the Kashmiri people their fundamental right to self-determination.

He said the people of Pakistan and Balochistan have always stood with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and will continue to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to their cause.

The chief minister also praised the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom, saying their sacrifices would not go in vain.

He urged the international community to take effective notice of the alleged human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and play a meaningful role in ensuring that the Kashmiri people are allowed to determine their future in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
