Fakhar Zaman Injured During ICC Champions Trophy Opening Match Against New Zealand

Karachi:Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, who got injured during the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand, has left the team management waiting for his medical reports before taking any further action.

Fakhar sustained a knee injury while fielding during the very first over of the match. Due to the discomfort, he had to leave the field twice for treatment. After receiving medical attention, he returned to the field and continued his duties until the end of the innings.

However, Fakhar did not open the batting as planned due to the injury. He had to wait for 20 minutes before coming in at number four to bat. Even during his batting, he appeared to be in pain.

Team management has confirmed that Fakhar Zaman has been complaining of tightness in his chest. They are now awaiting his medical reports before making any decisions regarding his condition.

It is worth noting that New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in this opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan’s next match is scheduled for February 23, 2025, against India in Dubai.
