India: Two Sisters Die a Day Before Wedding in Jodhpur, Suicide or Foul Play?

Jodhpur: Celebrations turned into mourning in a village on the outskirts of Jodhpur, as two real sisters allegedly died after consuming poison just a day before their wedding.

According to police officials, 25-year-old Shobha and 23-year-old Vimla were scheduled to be married on Saturday. Preparations and festivities were in full swing at their home until late Friday night, when the tragic incident occurred.

Family members said both brides went to their respective rooms around midnight to sleep. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Roshan Meena stated that around 4 a.m., both sisters suddenly fell ill. The family rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur, where doctors declared them dead.

Upon receiving information, police reached the scene, halted the last rites, and shifted the bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the family.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the sisters may have consumed a poisonous substance. However, the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is released. No suicide note has been recovered from the scene so far.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the deaths were a case of suicide or if other circumstances were involved.
