Punjab Govt Announces Reduction in Cooking Oil and Ghee Prices for Ramadan

Lahore: In a major relief for the public ahead of Ramadan, the Government of Punjab has announced a reduction in the prices of cooking oil and ghee.

On the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a meeting was held between Director General of the Punjab Food Authority Asim Javed and ghee mill owners. It was decided that during the holy month of Ramadan, all ghee and cooking oil products will be available at a discount ranging from Rs10 to Rs16 per kilogram and per liter.

According to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt, quality cooking oil and ghee will be provided in the market at reduced prices throughout the holy month. She added that if global palm oil prices decline further, the industry, in consultation with the authority, will extend immediate additional relief to consumers.

Chairman of the Ghee Mills Association Asjad Arif assured that an adequate supply of quality ghee will be maintained in the market during Ramadan. He also appreciated the Punjab Food Authority’s guidance to the industry in improving the quality and unit management standards of oil and ghee production.
