Maulana Fazlur Rehman Says “Fake Government” Formed Through “Fake Mandate

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has alleged that a “fake government” has been formed in the country through a “fake mandate,” calling the present setup a mockery of democracy.

Addressing a JUI youth convention in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if a government is formed through a transparent and fair process, his party would accept it. However, he maintained that the current government lacks public legitimacy.

Referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the JUI-F leader said Pakistan’s friendly country had chosen it as a key partner for global trade, but the project was stalled during the PTI government’s tenure. He added that even under the current government, not a single brick has been added to the CPEC projects.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further stated that businesses in the country are collapsing and Pakistani labor and capital are moving abroad, which reflects poor economic management.

He said that he does not believe in politics of blame and that his approach is based on moderation and reason rather than extremism. He added that the results of February 8 are now emerging in the form of economic and security failures.

The JUI-F chief reiterated his demand for transparency and democracy, stressing that political stability is impossible without public trust in the electoral process.
