Grade-19 Officer Dismissed Over Fake Degrees, Court Orders Recovery of Benefits

Islamabad:** A Grade-19 government officer, Waseem Afzal Warraich, has been dismissed from service after being found guilty of securing government employment using fake academic degrees.
The Islamabad High Court’s divisional bench dismissed Warraich’s intra-court appeal. According to the judgment issued on **July 1, 2026**, the court declared him guilty of fraud and forgery, stating that his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees had been obtained through deception.
The court ordered the recovery of all salaries, benefits, and privileges received during his government service. It also directed the **Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)** to initiate legal proceedings against him.
According to court records, Warraich initially secured a job at **SME Bank** in 1993 on the basis of fake qualifications and later left the bank in 2009 under the Golden Handshake Scheme. In 2011, he obtained a Grade-19 position in the Ministry of Labour and Manpower using the same forged credentials.
In 2017, the Islamabad High Court declared his degrees fake and ordered his dismissal from service. Following the court’s ruling, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis issued a notification terminating his employment, ordering the recovery of all benefits, and directing the FIA to pursue criminal action against him.
