Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Killed in Armed Attack in Libya

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of Libya’s former leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed in a shooting incident, according to sources close to the Gaddafi family.
Arab media reports said that four armed men carried out the attack, opening fire on Saif al-Islam in a garden area before fleeing the scene. His death was later confirmed by Libya’s official news agency, LANA, citing his adviser Abdullah Osman.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi had long been considered the political heir of his father. In 2021, he announced his intention to run in Libya’s presidential elections; however, the elections were postponed indefinitely due to ongoing political instability in the country.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the attackers or the motive behind the killing, and investigations are reportedly underway.
