Pakistan Urges International Community to Address Rising Islamophobia and Attacks on Islamic Heritage in India

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Pakistan has called on the international community to take serious notice of the escalating Islamophobia in India and the desecration of historic Islamic heritage sites.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan expressed deep concern over the recent incident in Ayodhya, where a flag was raised atop the so-called *Ram Mandir* built on the site of the historic Babri Mosque. The Babri Masjid, a centuries-old place of worship, was demolished on December 6, 1992, by an extremist mob fueled by fascist ideologies.

The Foreign Office noted that subsequent judicial proceedings in India acquitted those responsible for the demolition, and the permission granted to build a temple on the ruins further exposed the discriminatory treatment of minorities by the Indian state.

The statement emphasized that the incident is part of a broader pattern of pressure on religious minorities in India and a systematic campaign to erase the religious and cultural heritage of Muslims — a trend reinforced by the majoritarian Hindu nationalist ideology (Hindutva).

Pakistan warned that several other historic mosques in India face similar threats, while Indian Muslims continue to be marginalized socially, economically, and politically.

Pakistan has appealed to the international community — particularly the United Nations and relevant global institutions — to take cognizance of rising Islamophobia, hate speech, and attacks on Muslims in India, and to play an effective role in the protection of Islamic heritage.

The statement urged India to uphold its international human rights obligations and ensure the security of all religious communities, especially Muslims, and to guarantee full protection of their places of worship.
