Trump Launches ‘Board of Peace,’ Says Armed Groups Must Lay Down Weapons for Lasting Peace

Washington: US President Donald Trump has formally announced the launch of his proposed global forum, the “Board of Peace,” during an event held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

According to the White House, the Board of Peace is being established to help resolve international conflicts, with a permanent membership fee set at one billion dollars. President Trump said the board will include leaders from various countries and aims to play a key role in promoting global peace.

Although the initial concept of the board was presented as a mechanism to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza, the draft charter expands its scope beyond Palestinian territories, giving it a broader international mandate.

Addressing the gathering, President Trump claimed that 59 countries are currently involved in peace efforts in the Middle East, with several of them expressing support for the Board of Peace. He added that global institutions, including the United Nations, could also cooperate with the initiative.

Speaking on Gaza, Trump warned that serious consequences could follow if Hamas fails to honor its commitments and does not disarm. He stressed that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved if armed groups lay down their weapons.

The US president further stated that there is unprecedented global interest in joining the Board of Peace, with many countries eager to become part of the platform.
