Punjab Police Reject Fake Encounter Allegations Against CCD, Cite Sharp Decline in Crime

Lahore:Punjab Police have termed all allegations of fake police encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD) as baseless and misleading, stating that the claims are based on social media rumors with no grounding in facts.

In a written report submitted to the Lahore High Court on its directive, the police stated that the establishment of the CCD has led to a significant reduction in crime across Punjab. According to the report, property-related crimes declined by 64 percent within seven months of the CCD’s operations.

The report further claimed a 60 percent reduction in robbery and murder cases. Robbery incidents dropped from 792 in 2024 to 324 in 2025, reflecting a 69 percent decrease. Incidents of street crime (snatching and mugging) fell from 41,000 to 18,608, marking a reduction of 62 percent.

Punjab Police also reported a 64 percent decline in vehicle snatching cases, a 60 percent decrease in car thefts, and a 53 percent reduction in motorcycle snatching incidents, which fell from 9,754 to 4,628 cases.

Cases of robbery accompanied by murder reportedly declined from 170 to 96, showing a 60 percent decrease. The report noted that during CCD operations, one sub-inspector was martyred and 96 police personnel were injured.

Reaffirming its stance, the police said the CCD carries out indiscriminate action against criminal elements, ensures arrests, transparent investigations, and prosecutions strictly in accordance with the law. The department emphasized that the allegations against the CCD are unfounded and aimed at undermining its efforts to control crime.
