United States Tops List of World’s Most Powerful Countries in 2025: U.S. News & World Report

Islamabad: The *U.S. News & World Report* has released its annual list of the **50 most powerful countries in the world for 2025**, naming the **United States** once again as the world’s most powerful nation.

According to the report, the U.S. retained its top position due to its **political influence, strong economy, advanced military capabilities**, and **leadership in global alliances**.

**China** ranked second, followed by **Russia** in third place. The **United Kingdom** and **Germany** secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

Among Asian nations, **South Korea** ranked sixth, **Japan** eighth, **Saudi Arabia** ninth, **India** twelfth, and **Turkey** seventeenth. In addition, **the United Arab Emirates** ranked eleventh, **Australia** eighteenth, and **Qatar** nineteenth, reflecting the growing economic and defense strength of Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific powers.

In a notable development, **Bangladesh** made its debut on the list, ranking **47th**, while **Jordan** was placed **50th**.

The report highlights that powerful nations are those capable of influencing **global politics, economics, and security**, maintaining strong military forces, and asserting a significant **international presence**.

It further notes that a powerful country is defined by its ability to **lead globally**, exert **economic and political influence**, maintain **robust alliances**, and ensure **defensive strength** on the world stage.
