Election Tribunal Dismisses PTI Candidate Taimoor Saleem Jhagra’s Petition, Validates PML-N’s Jalal Khan Victory in PK-79

Peshawar: The Election Tribunal has dismissed the election petition filed by PTI candidate Taimoor Saleem Jhagra challenging the victory of PML-N’s Jalal Khan in PK-79, declaring Jalal Khan’s win valid.
Taimoor Saleem Jhagra had filed the petition claiming that Jalal Khan’s victory was fraudulent. He argued that under Form 45, he had won by a large margin, but Jalal Khan was declared the winner under Form 47. After his petition to the Returning Officer was rejected, Jhagra approached the Election Tribunal.
The PML-N lawyer contended in court that the petitioner had ignored several key legal requirements and committed multiple errors in the petition, including incorrectly stating his father’s name. The tribunal noted that under election rules, all details in a petition must be accurate, and the petition failed to meet legal standards.
Citing these technical deficiencies, the tribunal dismissed Taimoor Saleem Jhagra’s petition and upheld Jalal Khan’s victory, issuing a written verdict to formalize the decision.
