Indian Foreign Minister Meets Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker in Dhaka, First High-Level Interaction After War

Dhaka: Pakistan’s Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in Dhaka, marking the first face-to-face interaction between senior leaders of the two countries after the recent Pakistan-India war.

According to sources, the meeting took place in the Bangladeshi capital during their presence there following the death of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. The interaction occurred at Khaleda Zia’s residence, where the Indian foreign minister personally walked over to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s seat and shook hands with him.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq responded warmly, smiling as he returned the handshake. During their brief conversation, which lasted a few minutes, both leaders exchanged greetings, inquired about each other’s well-being, and shared courteous remarks.

The meeting is being seen as a significant diplomatic moment, as it was the first time senior representatives of Pakistan and India came face to face at a high level following the recent hostilities between the two countries.
