No Link Between Tooth Extraction and Vision Weakening, Study Confirms

Islamabad – A common misconception that having a tooth extracted can weaken eyesight has been dispelled by recent medical research.

Experts confirm that there is no direct scientific evidence linking tooth extraction to poor vision. Dental specialists explain that teeth and eyes belong to entirely different systems in the human body. While teeth are connected to the jaw, gums, and nerves, vision relies on the eyes and specific parts of the brain.

Modern studies show that extracting a tooth does not affect eyesight. Specialists note that some individuals may experience temporary headaches, eye pressure, or mild discomfort after a dental procedure due to anesthesia, mental stress, or nerve sensitivity. However, these symptoms are short-lived and should not be associated with permanent vision loss.

The research also emphasizes that untreated dental infections can negatively impact overall health, but this does not mean tooth extraction itself harms vision. In fact, removing severely infected teeth can improve overall health.

Dental and eye care professionals agree that maintaining oral hygiene, timely dental treatment, and regular check-ups are essential for overall well-being, while eye health requires separate care and examinations.

Experts advise the public to rely on verified medical guidance and consult relevant doctors instead of trusting unverified claims or traditional misconceptions.
