Federal Government Ends Fuel Conservation and Austerity Measures

Islamabad: The federal government has announced the withdrawal of fuel conservation and additional austerity measures that had been in place since March 9 this year.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the government has formally ended the extra cost-cutting measures introduced as part of its energy-saving policy.

However, the notification clarified that restrictions on business operating hours for markets and commercial centers will remain unchanged. Shops, general stores, department stores, shopping malls, and markets will continue to close at 9:00 p.m.

Wedding halls and other event venues will remain required to close by 10:00 p.m., while restaurants, cafes, and food outlets will be allowed to operate until 11:00 p.m.

The notification further stated that takeaway and home delivery services for food outlets will remain exempt from the closing-time restrictions.

Essential services, including medical stores, hospitals, laboratories, and petrol stations, will continue to be exempt from operating-hour limitations.

The government said the decision marks the end of the additional fuel conservation and austerity measures, while maintaining selected regulations aimed at managing energy consumption and commercial activity.
