PTI’s Mashal Yousafzai Pushes for Senate Ticket Amid Growing Political Activity

Mashal Yousafzai, a prominent female leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has become active in her efforts to secure a Senate ticket ahead of the upcoming elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 21. Sources reveal that Mashal has already begun reaching out to party leadership to further her bid.
According to reports, Mashal contacted PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar over the phone to express her desire to contest the Senate elections. She claims to have received instructions from the founder of PTI to submit her nomination papers. Mashal says that during a family visit to Bushra Bibi in Adiala Jail, the message was relayed to her.
In response to her call, Barrister Gohar told Mashal to submit her papers, stating that the party would review the situation afterward. However, he also clarified that he had not received any direct instructions from PTI’s founder regarding Senate tickets.
Additionally, Mashal has reportedly reached out to other senior party members, including Aftab Khan, to discuss her candidacy. Despite this, Mashal has refrained from making any public statements on the matter.
In a separate interview with Geo News, Barrister Gohar clarified that while Mashal had indeed contacted him, no formal directive had been issued from the PTI founder to grant anyone a Senate ticket. He emphasized that the party was still reviewing the issue, and a final decision would be made in due course.
The Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are scheduled for July 21, with elections being held for 11 seats. Political maneuvering within PTI appears to be intensifying as the date approaches.
