Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri Condemns Injustice Against Balochistan’s Archery Players; Assures Full Support and Senate Action

Islamabad: Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri, has strongly condemned the alleged injustice faced by Balochistan’s archery teams during the 35th National Games in Karachi. She expressed serious concern over reports that the Balochistan Archery Association replaced selected athletes with non-selected individuals, depriving rightful players of their positions.
Calling the act “unbearable and unethical in any civilized society,” Senator Zehri said that politics and nepotism destroy the true spirit of sports. She lauded the female players of the Balochistan archery team for bravely standing up for their rights and resisting injustice.
Senator Zehri assured the affected male and female players of her complete support and announced that the issue would be raised in the Senate. She expressed shock and anger that top-performing players were removed right before the competition and replaced with “ghost athletes,” whose poor performance caused embarrassment for the province.
She vowed that a full investigation would be conducted into the incident, with strict disciplinary action recommended against those responsible. “Those who have been misusing authority for years must be removed from key positions and permanently banned,” she stated.
The Senator added that the matter would also be taken up with the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Advisor on Sports Meena Majeed, and other senior officials, expressing confidence that the case would lead to meaningful reforms.
Highlighting the power of social media, Senator Zehri said such injustices can no longer remain hidden and that the courageous stance of the archery team would inspire players in other sports facing similar discrimination.
She pledged to meet the affected athletes—especially the “brave daughters of Balochistan”—during her next visit to Quetta, praising them for raising their voices against injustice and setting a positive example for others.
