Heated Clash in Senate Committee Meeting as Senator Calls for Removal of Aleem Khan as Federal Minister

Islamabad: A heated exchange took place during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Communications, where Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Senator Palwasha Khan traded sharp remarks, leading the senator to demand his removal from office over alleged misconduct and corruption concerns.

According to media reports, tensions escalated when Senator Palwasha Khan questioned the performance of the ministry and raised concerns regarding a specific road project. In response, the federal minister reacted angrily, making harsh remarks during the committee proceedings.

Abdul Aleem Khan reportedly stated that “all kinds of dishonest people have gathered here,” and directly addressed the senator by saying he would expose her actions, questioning how she dared to speak to him in such a manner.

Senator Palwasha Khan hit back, saying the minister became furious because he was embarrassed by the questions. She demanded that the committee issue a formal ruling on the minister’s conduct, terming his behavior unacceptable.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Senator Palwasha Khan said that if the federal minister wished to speak about her personally, he was free to do so, but stressed that the committee must take notice of his attitude. She further stated that corruption in the National Highway Authority (NHA) is visible to everyone and vowed to continue raising questions and highlighting the issue both in parliament and within her party.

The incident has drawn attention to growing tensions within parliamentary committees and renewed calls for accountability over alleged irregularities in key public institutions.
