I Reached Parliament for the Fifth Time Without Spending a Single Rupee, a World Record: Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui

Karachi: Federal Minister for Education and leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, has said that he reached parliament for the fifth time without spending even one rupee, calling it a rare example in the world.

He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the International Medical Education Conference 2026 at Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry in Karachi, where he attended as the chief guest.

Dr. Siddiqui said that Pakistan has a ruling elite with which he has no association, adding, “By the grace of Allah, I have entered the parliament for the fifth time without spending a single rupee, which is an example for the world.”

Speaking on education, the federal minister remarked that going abroad should not be termed brain drain, but rather brain training, emphasizing that Pakistan’s youth are not a burden but the country’s greatest strength.

He highlighted the progress of women in education but lamented that 80 percent of educated women are forced to stay at home. Addressing families, he said, “I urge mothers-in-law, husbands, and mothers to let girls hold household responsibilities if needed, but do not take the stethoscope out of their hands.”

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui added that the government spends substantial public funds on girls’ education, which goes to waste if educated women are not allowed to pursue professional careers.
