Do Not Tarnish the Black Coat and Black Tie, Says Sindh High Court Chief Justice

Hyderabad: Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, has urged lawyers to uphold the sanctity of their profession and not allow the black coat and black tie to be tarnished, stressing that public confidence in lawyers is directly linked to trust in the entire justice system.

Addressing a welcome dinner hosted by the High Court Bar Association, the Chief Justice said that any advice given by lawyers must be strictly within the bounds of the law. He warned that providing unlawful advice not only promotes lawlessness in society but also makes lawyers complicit in such wrongdoing.

Justice Rajput emphasized that ensuring the fair and impartial application of the law is the fundamental responsibility of the legal fraternity. He expressed deep concern, stating that it causes him great distress when a lawyer, instead of fighting corruption, becomes a victim or participant in it.

He noted that the black coat and black tie symbolize a sacred duty, and if this symbol is disgraced, public trust will erode not only in lawyers but in the entire justice system.

The Chief Justice further said that both the bench and the bar share a common vision and are united in their commitment to work together for the promotion of justice and the rule of law in society.
