Gen Bajwa and Faiz Equally Involved in Ousting My Government, Questions Double Standards in Punishment: Sanaullah Zehri

Quetta: Former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has reacted to the court martial verdict against former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, stating that not only Faiz Hameed but also former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and his subordinate officers were equally involved in the removal of Balochistan’s elected democratic government.
Sanaullah Zehri said his government was dismissed because he stood by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, adding that the move was the result of political engineering. He claimed that due to political interference, the law and order situation in Balochistan once again began to deteriorate.
The former chief minister expressed his readiness to present all evidence before the court and questioned what he termed a double standard in accountability, asking why politicians are awarded death sentences while Faiz Hameed received 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. Referring to the case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he said the Supreme Court itself had acknowledged it as a judicial murder.
Zehri further alleged that despite assurances by Gen Bajwa to summon Faiz Hameed to Islamabad, he remained in Quetta for four days, which, according to him, indicated the involvement of both generals in the change of government in Balochistan.
He stressed that the process of accountability and punishment must be carried out in a transparent manner, adding that the Pakistani nation is closely observing these developments and expects justice to be done.
