Balochistan PDMA Unveils Monsoon Contingency Plan 2026 to Mitigate Flood Risks

Quetta (Daily Qudrat News) – March 26, 2026: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued a comprehensive Monsoon Contingency Plan 2026 aimed at effectively managing potential emergencies arising from seasonal rains across the province.
According to officials, the plan focuses on preparedness, timely response, and improved coordination among government departments to ensure the protection of lives and property. Authorities have identified vulnerable districts and high-risk areas that may face flooding, flash floods, landslides, and other climate-related hazards during the monsoon season.
The strategy incorporates lessons learned from previous years, rainfall trends, and the growing impact of climate change. It outlines clear roles and responsibilities for all relevant departments, district administrations, and emergency response agencies to ensure swift and coordinated action in case of any disaster.
Under the plan, arrangements have been finalized for the availability of heavy machinery, rescue equipment, medical facilities, medicines, ambulances, clean drinking water, and drainage systems. Temporary shelters have also been designated to accommodate displaced individuals, where essential services including food, healthcare, and clean water will be provided.
PDMA has established a coordinated monitoring mechanism at provincial, divisional, and district levels, along with the appointment of focal persons to ensure effective communication and information sharing among all stakeholders.
The plan also includes collaboration with non-governmental organizations, volunteer groups, and international partners, including UN agencies, to enhance the overall disaster response capacity.
Authorities have directed all concerned departments and district administrations to remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season. Citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary movement near streams and flood-prone areas, and strictly follow official advisories.
PDMA emphasized that proactive planning and public cooperation are key to minimizing potential losses during the upcoming monsoon season.
