PTI and Opposition Observe ‘Black Day’ as Mehmood Khan Achakzai Declares Political War

ISLAMABAD: During the PTI- and opposition-led ‘Black Day’ protest against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief and leader of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aeen-e-Pakistan, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, launched a fierce attack on the government, accusing it of corruption, constitutional violations, and economic mismanagement.

Addressing the large gathering, Achakzai said those who “attacked the Constitution” were previously called thieves by the opposition, but now even the IMF had labelled them the same. He alleged that the government had embezzled Rs 5 trillion and that “a single vote was bought for Rs 900 million,” while ordinary citizens were suffering from hunger.

He further accused the government of undermining judicial independence and holding Parliament hostage. Achakzai declared that the people would no longer accept “oppression and unlawful control,” emphasizing that their struggle was peaceful but determined.

Issuing a warning, he said: “Do not force us—otherwise we will climb the jail walls with ladders to meet our leader.” He announced that the movement for the release of Imran Khan and all political detainees would intensify.

Achakzai proclaimed that a battle between democratic and undemocratic forces had begun in Pakistan and vowed not to rest until a “new democratic Pakistan” was established.
