Seven Killed in Terrorist Attack on Peace Committee Office in Bannu

BANNU / DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A tragic act of terrorism struck the Hovid Darderez area of Bannu on Thursday when heavily armed militants belonging to a banned outfit opened indiscriminate fire on the office of Peace Committee chief Qari Jaleel, killing seven people and injuring another.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Danish, Kamran, Waliullah, Muhammad Niaz, Nauman, and two individuals named Sufiyan. The attackers fled the scene after the assault.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, a large contingent of police reached the spot, shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital, and launched an investigation along with a search operation in the surrounding area.

Authorities have termed the attack a deliberate act of terrorism aimed at destabilizing local peace efforts. The search for the perpetrators is currently underway.
