Imran Khan Was Asked to Remain Silent for Three Years: Sister Aleema Khan Reveals Conditions for His Release

Rawalpindi – Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has disclosed the conditions reportedly presented to Khan in exchange for his release, claiming he was asked to remain silent for three years and accept the legitimacy of a “stolen mandate.”
Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said Imran Khan was offered a deal: “Sit at the table, give and take,” but he refused, insisting on the rule of law, democracy, and constitutional supremacy. “How can he abandon his stance when it’s about the Constitution and justice?” she questioned.
Aleema revealed that two years ago, Imran Khan was told to stay silent and let the current government complete its term. He was also asked to accept the controversial 26th Constitutional Amendment and apologize for the events of May 9. In response, Khan reportedly said, “Even for three minutes, I will not remain silent in the face of tyranny like Yazid’s.”
She said Imran Khan refused to apologize, asserting that those responsible for destroying CCTV footage, abducting people, and committing violence should be the ones to apologize.
Aleema criticized the 26th Amendment, stating that it was introduced to cover up the rigging of the February 8 elections, claiming it was crafted by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and the PML-N. She argued that the amendment undermined judicial independence, empowered military courts, and has been misinterpreted by the Supreme Court.
Aleema also mentioned that today, despite court orders, party leaders were denied access to Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. Several leaders, including Azam Swati, Noorul Haq Qadri, and others, returned without meeting him. She stated that even the judge was upset and left the courtroom because his orders were not obeyed.
“The judiciary has been rendered powerless,” Aleema said. “If one officer gives an order, judges cannot do anything. We are not even allowed to speak with our children or provide books to Imran Khan.”
She emphasized that protests would continue nationwide until constitutional supremacy is restored, echoing her brother’s call for peaceful resistance. “Imran Khan has urged party officials to either stand firm in the face of oppression or step down from their posts. Allah stands with the truth,” she concluded.
Aleema asserted that Imran Khan would only be released if judges are allowed to hear his cases freely and deliver independent decisions.
