Senator Siddiqui had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad for the past two weeks and was unable to participate in the voting process for the 27th Constitutional Amendment due to his illness.
Irfan Siddiqui, elected to the Senate in March 2021, served as the **Parliamentary Leader of PML-N in the Senate** and was a close associate of party president **Nawaz Sharif**. He also chaired the **Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs**.
