PESHAWAR / LAHORE:The price of live chicken has surged sharply across major cities, with rates rising by **Rs35 per kilogram within just two days**.
In **Peshawar**, the price of live chicken has jumped significantly, pushing the **retail rate of chicken meat to Rs600 per kilogram**. Meanwhile, in **Lahore**, the price of live broiler chicken has reached around **Rs350 per kilogram**, marking a notable increase in recent days.
Consumers have voiced frustration over the sudden hike and urged the government to **take immediate steps to regulate poultry prices** and ensure stability in the local markets.
Market analysts attribute the rise to **increased transportation costs, feed prices, and supply chain disruptions**, warning that further inflation could impact protein affordability for middle- and low-income households.
