Balochistan Food Authority Cracks Down on Unhygienic Bakery Products in Quetta and Sibi; Multiple Units Sealed

Quetta: The **Balochistan Food Authority (BFA)** continued its crackdown on substandard and unhygienic bakery products for the second consecutive day, conducting extensive inspections across **Quetta** and **Sibi**.
According to BFA officials, a total of **62 bakeries and baking units** were inspected during the operation. The inspections revealed poor hygiene conditions, the use of expired and stale ingredients, rusted machinery, and the production of low-quality bakery items. As a result, **four bakeries were sealed**, and **24 owners were heavily fined**.
Additionally, **18 bakery units** were issued **corrective notices** for minor violations. During the raids, BFA teams confiscated large quantities of expired ingredients, harmful non-food-grade colors, and unsafe bakery products.
BFA Director General **Waqar Khurshid Alam** stated that, under the directives of the Provincial Minister and BFA Chairman, a **zero-tolerance policy** against substandard food is being strictly enforced. He emphasized that **no compromise will be made on public health**, and BFA teams are actively working to eliminate unsafe food practices across the province.
He urged citizens to purchase only **safe and quality bakery products** and to immediately report any violations or complaints to the Balochistan Food Authority so that strict action can be taken against those endangering public health.
