Health Sector in Balochistan on Verge of Collapse Due to Corruption and Kickbacks: Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar

QUETTA: Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Central Secretary General of the **Balochistan Awami Party (BAP)**, has said that the **health sector in Balochistan** has reached the brink of collapse due to rampant **corruption, commissions, and nepotism**. He demanded the establishment of a **judicial commission** to conduct a transparent investigation into the alleged corruption within the provincial Health Department.
In a strongly worded statement, Senator Kakar said that it is alarming that such corruption is taking place **under the nose of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti**, adding that the poor are being deprived of **basic healthcare facilities**. He said **public hospitals lack essential medicines, surgical tools, and medical supplies**, forcing underprivileged patients to suffer without treatment.
He condemned reports that officials were **charging families money to release the bodies of victims of suicide attacks**, calling it a “shameful and inhumane act” that exposes a deeply rooted **culture of greed and moral decay** within the department.
Senator Kakar stated that BAP would not remain silent on such injustices and would **raise the issue strongly in the Senate**, emphasizing that Balochistan is already facing severe **backwardness**, and corruption in the health sector has worsened public misery.
He accused the Health Department of **favoritism in recruitment, misuse of contracts, and widespread embezzlement of millions of rupees**, claiming that even doctors have acknowledged the extent of corruption. Previous hiring through private testing agencies, including **CTSP**, had also revealed serious irregularities, yet **no action was taken**.
Kakar urged Chief Minister Bugti to **take immediate notice** of the situation and form a **judicial commission** to ensure accountability. He also called on **NAB, Anti-Corruption Establishment, and other watchdog agencies** to launch a **high-level inquiry** into the department’s malpractices, stressing that “**playing with people’s lives is an unforgivable crime**.”
