Over 250,000 Fake Pakistani ID Cards Detected; Majority Belong to Afghan Nationals

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** Authorities have uncovered a major identity fraud scandal involving over 250,000 fake Pakistani national identity cards, most of which were found to belong to Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.
According to official sources, NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) used specialized software to identify suspicious ID cards. The software analyzed family tree compositions and flagged inconsistencies, revealing that a large number of Afghan citizens had been illegally included in Pakistani family trees.
Many of these fake entries were traced to areas including Pishin, Chaman, and Quetta, where Afghan nationals were added to Pakistani family records—often without the knowledge of genuine citizens. Agents reportedly charged large sums of money to facilitate the inclusion of Afghan individuals in these family trees.
Officials confirmed that the fake ID cards are now being automatically blocked, and holders have been instructed to visit NADRA offices for verification. ID cards not verified within the given timeframe will be permanently canceled.
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, law enforcement agencies have intensified operations against illegal Afghan residents. Under the supervision of SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, a grand search and combing operation was conducted in various areas of the Sabzi Mandi police jurisdiction.
According to Capital Police, 221 individuals and 65 shops were inspected during the operation, along with 43 motorcycles and 31 vehicles. A total of 69 Afghan nationals residing illegally in the federal capital were taken into custody.
Inspector General (IG) Islamabad has directed that such large-scale operations continue across the district to curb crime and ensure public safety.
