Balochistan University’s Soaring Fee Hike Sparks Outrage Among Students and Parents
Quetta: Students and parents have voiced strong concern and frustration over the *sharp and unprecedented increase* in admission fees for BS programs (2025–29 session) at the University of Balochistan. Many say the new fee structure has pushed higher education beyond the reach of low- and middle-income families.
According to sources, the university has announced a **10 percent annual increase** in its revised fee structure. However, parents argue that this year’s surge far exceeds normal limits.
In particular, students admitted under the **self-finance category** in disciplines such as *Computer Science* and *Information Technology* are reportedly being charged an **additional PKR 50,000**, adding to the financial strain.
Parents and students lament that such steep hikes in a province already struggling with limited educational facilities will make access to quality higher education even more difficult for underprivileged families.
They have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the issue and **restore the fee structure to its previous level** to ensure education remains affordable for all.
