Iranian Delegation Visits ANF Headquarters, Vows Joint Efforts for a Drug-Free Region

Rawalpindi: A high-level delegation of Iran’s Anti-Narcotics Police, led by Brigadier General Iraj Kakavand, visited the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where they were warmly received by ANF Director General Major General Abdul Mueed.

During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fight against drugs, enhancing intelligence sharing, and taking effective measures to dismantle smuggling networks.

The discussions also focused on adopting joint operational strategies to curb cross-border drug trafficking and addressing challenges along the Pakistan-Iran border.

As part of a three-day program, the Iranian delegation will also visit the Ministry of Interior & Narcotics Control, ANF Academy in Islamabad, Model Addiction Treatment, Rehabilitation and Integration Centre in Karachi, and the Port Control Unit in Karachi. The visits aim to review Pakistan’s professional training system, preventive measures against drug trafficking, and rehabilitation efforts for affected individuals.

The Iranian delegation praised Pakistan’s achievements and ongoing efforts in counter-narcotics operations, assuring full cooperation to further enhance technical capabilities and operational readiness.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to creating a drug-free region, emphasizing stronger coordination and cooperation in border areas to ensure a safer and narcotics-free future.
