PM Shehbaz Meets UN Chief, Raises Kashmir, Indus Treaty Violations, and Terror Sponsorship

New York:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met **UN Secretary-General António Guterres** after addressing the UN General Assembly, where he highlighted key national and regional issues.

During the meeting, Shehbaz stressed the need for a **fair and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute** in line with UN Security Council resolutions. He also raised concerns over **India’s violations of the Indus Waters Treaty** and its alleged sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan.

The prime minister appreciated the UN chief’s role in helping reduce tensions during the recent **Pakistan-India conflict**, calling it vital for peace and stability in the region.

On global issues, Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s strong support for an **immediate ceasefire in Gaza** and urged steps toward establishing a Palestinian state. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and the UN’s central role in tackling global challenges.

The premier also thanked the UN for acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts in handling recent floods and called for **additional financing for climate-vulnerable countries** like Pakistan.
