Opposition Delegation Visits JI Islamabad Headquarters, Invites Party to National Conference

*Islamabad (Daily Qudrat):* A delegation of the opposition alliance, led by Asad Qaiser, visited the Islamabad headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami to extend an invitation for participation in a national conference aimed at promoting democracy in Pakistan. The delegation met with Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch, where detailed discussions were held on the country’s current political situation.

Speaking at the joint press conference, Asad Qaiser said, “Jamaat-e-Islami has been invited because of its significant role in national politics, and this conference is being organized to strengthen democracy.” He expressed concern over rising incidents of terrorism, recalling the tragic Peshawar APS attack that occurred 11 years ago on December 16, and condemned the act while offering condolences to the victims’ families. Qaiser also criticized the incomplete implementation of the National Action Plan and highlighted the ongoing denial of access to meet PTI chairman Imran Khan’s sisters, calling it a violation of legal and judicial orders.

He confirmed that the national conference will be held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, asserting it as a constitutional and democratic right.

On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch thanked the opposition leaders for the visit, describing the meeting as conducted in a cordial environment with thorough discussions on national issues. He stated that the invitation would be forwarded to the party’s Emir, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, and the Shura for a final decision regarding participation.

Liaquat Baloch emphasized the need for political stability to address the country’s economic crisis, pointing out that fundamental human rights are under pressure and the hybrid system has failed. He also stressed resolving Afghanistan-related issues through dialogue, urging Afghanistan not to allow its territory to be used for terrorism and to strengthen ties with Pakistan instead of external powers.
