Timely Measures Averted Major Flood Disaster, Says Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz

Sargodha: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Thursday that timely arrangements helped prevent massive devastation from what she described as the worst flood in the province’s history.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Electric Bus Project in Sargodha, the CM said that simultaneous flooding in three major rivers had affected hundreds of villages, but advance preparedness minimized the damage. She announced that financial aid cheques for flood-affected families will be distributed within two weeks.

Maryam Nawaz praised the political and military leadership for taking crucial decisions in the national interest and lauded former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his tireless efforts. She also highlighted Pakistan’s recent defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, stating that any attack on Saudi Arabia would be considered an attack on Pakistan, with the Pakistan Army now responsible for the protection of Makkah and Madinah.

The CM further claimed that under Army Chief General Asim Munir’s leadership, Pakistan had achieved a historic victory against India, noting Sargodha’s role as the “City of Falcons” that played a decisive part in past battles.

Earlier, she inaugurated the **Clean and Green Punjab Project**, launching a fleet of green electric buses in Sargodha. These buses will operate not only in the city but also across six tehsils of the district, with charging stations installed at the General Bus Stand.
