FIR Registered After Relative of Rights Activist Um-e-Rubab Chandio Killed in Dadu
Karachi: A murder case has been registered following the killing of Riaz Chandio, a relative of rights activist Um-e-Rubab Chandio, in Sindh’s Dadu district.
In a video message, Um-e-Rubab Chandio alleged that Murtaza Chandio, also known as “Marto,” who was recently released from jail, led a group of armed men that opened fire during a dispute near agricultural land, killing her young cousin, Riaz Chandio.
She appealed to the Inspector General of Sindh Police, senior government officials, and the Chief of Army Staff to ensure justice, stating that her family had already suffered multiple losses in previous incidents. She also criticized what she described as the negative role of the police and called for the immediate arrest of those responsible.
According to police, an FIR has been registered at Faridabad Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Ahsan Chandio. The case names Murtaza Chandio and nine other suspects, while two unidentified individuals have also been included in the investigation.

The complainant stated in the FIR that the deceased, Riaz Chandio, had been a complainant’s representative in the high-profile murder case involving Um-e-Rubab Chandio’s father, grandfather, and uncle. The FIR also notes that Murtaza Chandio and several other suspects had previously been nominated in that case.
According to the report, Murtaza Chandio had recently been acquitted by a court in the earlier triple murder case. Police said an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to arrest the nominated suspects.
The allegations made by Um-e-Rubab Chandio have not been independently verified, and the investigation is ongoing.
