Government of Balochistan Prepares for Monsoon Season with Flood Emergency Response Centers

Quetta:In anticipation of severe rainfall during the 2024 monsoon season, the Department of Irrigation, Government of Balochistan, has announced proactive measures. As per a warning issued by the NDMA Islamabad, several flood emergency response centers will be established in key areas. Secretary of the Irrigation Department emphasized the establishment of camps in Sibi, Fort Abbas, Faizabad, Khanpur, Osta Muhammad, Bagh Sar, and Jhal Magsi. These centers will be equipped with necessary machinery and supplies, including field teams comprising divisional officers, engineers, and support staff, to mitigate potential flood risks and safeguard communities and infrastructure. The initiative aims to minimize the adverse effects of inclement weather conditions on residents and infrastructure throughout the monsoon season. Efforts include swift responses and facilitation to effectively tackle any emergency situations arising from floods.
