Karachi Defence Sees Dramatic Abduction and Shooting Incident Involving Policeman

Karachi: Tension gripped Defence area (Khayaban-e-Arfat) after armed suspects abducted a police constable and opened fire before fleeing in their car.
According to police, a patrolling team approached a suspicious vehicle for checking when an accomplice already standing nearby held Head Constable Ishaq Jatoi at gunpoint and took him hostage. The suspects allegedly assaulted him before driving away.
A swift search operation was launched, and efforts to obtain CCTV footage are underway. Later, the abducted constable was released near New Sabzi Mandi, while the attackers managed to escape.
SSP South Mahzoor Ali told media that an FIR was being registered, adding that a separate firing incident also occurred in Gizri during shift change, when gunmen opened fire on a police mobile with one officer inside. No casualties were reported. Two policemen on duty at the time were suspended.
Meanwhile, in another attack a day earlier at Khayaban-e-Bukhari, an unidentified pedestrian fired 11 shots at a police mobile before fleeing, though no one was injured.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has taken notice of the incidents and ordered the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
