Monsoon Rains Begin Across Sindh; Heavy Showers Forecast in Coming Days

KARACHI: The monsoon spell has begun in several parts of Sindh, bringing rainfall to Umerkot, Tharparkar, and Tando Muhammad Khan.

According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected until September 11 in various cities including Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, and Hyderabad. In Karachi, intermittent heavy showers are forecast from this evening through Thursday, with authorities warning of potential urban flooding.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a rain alert for southern Punjab over the next two days. Cities including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad are expected to receive heavy rainfall.

The NDMA has cautioned that torrential rains could trigger flash floods in hill torrents and also pose risks of landslides in vulnerable areas.
