PTI Issues Show-Cause Notice to MNA Iqbal Afridi Over Alleged Party Discipline Violations
Islamabad:The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to National Assembly member **Iqbal Afridi** for allegedly violating party discipline.
According to media reports, the notice gives Afridi **seven days** to explain his position. It warns that failure to submit a satisfactory response could result in the suspension of his basic party membership.
The notice alleges that Afridi repeatedly displayed inappropriate behavior toward fellow PTI lawmakers and used offensive language. It also accuses him of violating decisions made by the party’s parliamentary group during proceedings of the National Assembly.
The development comes just days after the **National Assembly approved a motion on June 21** to restore Afridi’s membership following an earlier suspension.
During the parliamentary session, **Barrister Gohar Khan** sought permission to present the motion, which was subsequently approved by the House.
Speaking on the matter, the Speaker of the National Assembly said he had no objection to restoring Afridi’s membership but emphasized his responsibility to protect the dignity and rights of both the House and its members.
The Speaker urged Afridi not to bring visitors into Parliament without official passes and to refrain from mistreating Assembly staff or fellow lawmakers. He also clarified that while members have the right to point out a lack of quorum, no member would be allowed to monopolize the floor whenever they chose to stand.
The Speaker further advised all lawmakers not to bring unauthorized guests into the parliamentary lobbies, noting that these areas are reserved for members, particularly during voting sessions. He also called on both the government and the opposition to jointly review and strengthen the parliamentary code of conduct.
