Over 490 Lives Saved in Flood-Hit Areas Using Advanced Thermal Technology in Punjab

Jhang: In a groundbreaking development, **modern thermal technology** has been successfully used in flood-affected areas of Punjab to rescue more than **490 stranded people** and move them to safer locations.
Rescue operations were carried out in **Okara, Jhang, Athara Hazari, Shorkot, and Ahmedpur Sial**, where thermal imaging made it possible to detect and save people trapped in the darkness of night.
Detailed reports confirm rescues from multiple locations, including **21 people from Jhang City Bund, 63 from Daduanran, 70 from Alipur, 85 from Thattha Jabanran, 80 from Jogira Buchhiran, and 45 from Wali Muhammad Jhandir**, among others. Smaller groups were also evacuated from several other villages using the technology.
For the **first time in Pakistan’s history**, thermal technology was deployed in rescue missions, enabling authorities to identify human presence even in areas invisible to the naked eye.
Punjab Chief Minister **Maryam Nawaz Sharif** praised rescue teams for their successful use of this advanced system, calling it a **revolutionary step in disaster management**.
Officials stated that with this innovation, **night-time rescue operations have become far more effective**, making it possible to save lives swiftly in flood emergencies.
Maryam Nawaz is the **first Chief Minister** to introduce and implement thermal technology in Punjab’s rescue operations, setting a new precedent for modern disaster response in the province.
