Federal Minister for Education Wajiha Qamar Highlights Scholarships and Skill Development Initiatives for Balochistan’s Youth

QUETTA:Federal Minister of State for Education, Wajiha Qamar, has emphasized the government’s commitment to providing scholarships and skill development opportunities for the children of Balochistan. During a press conference in Quetta on Tuesday, she stated that 54,000 children in the province have already received training, and initiatives are ongoing across 35 districts to empower women and increase the skills of local youth.

Speaking to the media, Qamar revealed that her visit to Quetta aimed to assess the progress of Balochistan’s National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTTC) programs, which are being implemented with the same benefits available in other provinces. She highlighted her visit to the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITMS), where she appreciated the effective work being done.

“Despite the challenges in Balochistan, it is encouraging to see that girls are being equipped with skills, not only in traditional fields like stitching and embroidery but also in information technology,” she said. The Minister also emphasized the importance of skill-building programs that go beyond traditional vocational training, offering courses in sectors like hospitality, healthcare services, construction, and agriculture.

Qamar further mentioned that the federal government has specifically allocated a significant portion of scholarships for Balochistan’s children. She also outlined ongoing efforts to improve the capacity-building initiatives for students across the province, aiming to help them develop skills that will contribute to their future success.
