JUI-F Announces Boycott of Balochistan Government, Sets Deadline for CM’s Apology

QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F) has announced a complete boycott of the Balochistan government, escalating tensions over the issue of madrassa registration.
Addressing a press conference alongside Senator Kamran Murtaza and other party leaders, provincial chief Maulana Abdul Wasey declared that no party member would attend official events, visit the Chief Minister’s House, or participate in government meetings.
Maulana Wasey accused the provincial government of crossing a “red line” by creating what he termed an unnecessary controversy over madrassa registration. He warned that the situation could lead to open confrontation if not resolved.
Issuing a direct message to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, he said the government must apologize by May 2 or face street-level protests. “If no apology is made, decisions will be taken on the streets,” he added.
He further alleged that religious institutions were being pressured without proper legislation, calling the move unacceptable. Senator Kamran Murtaza emphasized that any law related to madrassas must comply with constitutional and legal requirements, warning of strong resistance otherwise.
The JUI-F leadership also announced that a party meeting on May 2 would finalize a protest strategy against the proposed Madrassa Act and Mines and Minerals legislation.
Political analysts suggest that the growing rift between JUI-F and the provincial government could significantly impact Balochistan’s political landscape, as disputes over madrassa regulation and resource laws intensify.
