Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti Demands Immediate Release of Baloch Political Prisoners, Condemns Treatment of Baloch Women Protesters in Islamabad

Quetta:Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, son of the late Nawab Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti, has strongly condemned the ongoing treatment of Baloch women protesting in Islamabad, highlighting the harsh and inhumane actions against them. Speaking out against the recent media frenzy in Punjab over the alleged murder of a woman in Balochistan, he criticized the double standards being applied to Baloch issues.

He stated, “While Punjab’s media, newspapers, and TV programs are raising a ruckus over the tragic incident of a woman’s murder in Balochistan, the real issue that is being completely ignored is the plight of Baloch women, sisters, and mothers who have been protesting on the streets of Islamabad for the past nine days. They are demanding the release of their loved ones who have been unjustly imprisoned or forcibly disappeared.”

Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti emphasized that these peaceful protests by Baloch women are for a legitimate cause and their fundamental right to demand justice. He pointed out that instead of being allowed to express their grievances, these women have been subjected to constant harassment. “These mothers and sisters are being pushed around by the police and hired goons, and anyone who tries to assist them is either detained or disappeared,” he said.

He further expressed concern over the attitude of the authorities, stating, “Despite the peaceful nature of their protest, these women are not even allowed to set up tents to shield themselves from the rain or the sun. They are being denied basic human dignity, while the authorities turn a blind eye to their suffering.”

Bugti criticized the silence of the Punjab media and intellectuals, accusing them of being complicit in the injustice faced by Baloch women in Islamabad. “It is clear that the people of Punjab and the so-called intellectuals are not even acknowledging the mistreatment of Baloch women. If they had even an ounce of humanity, they would at least speak out against this unjust treatment,” he said.

He concluded by demanding the immediate release of the detained Baloch political leaders and the safe return of missing Baloch persons. “We call for the immediate release of the Baloch Unity Committee’s detained leaders and the return of missing persons who have been disappearing for years. Moreover, the women protesting in Islamabad must be granted their constitutional, democratic, and legal right to continue their peaceful protests until their demands are met.”

Bugti’s statement reflects the ongoing struggle of the Baloch people for justice, the protection of their rights, and the fair treatment of their women who are courageously standing up for their loved ones.
