Traders in Dera Rahman Jamali demand security and justice, threaten protest

Quetta:Muhammad Usman, leader of the All Traders Association in Nasirabad, Dera Rahman Jamali, expressed grave concerns over the closure of businesses for the past two months, alleging repeated complaints to the police without any action. He appealed to Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sardar Farooq Bugti, Commander Balochistan, IG FC, and IG Police Balochistan to ensure justice and protection, warning of escalated protests if their demands are not met.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta Press Club alongside traders Wahid Bukhsh and Zulfiqar Ahmed, Muhammad Usman stated, “We are traders, associated with markets, petrol pumps, and various businesses in Dera Rahman Jamali, Nasirabad. Some miscreants have forcibly shut down our businesses for the past two months. We have repeatedly requested SHO Dera Rahman Jamali and SSP Nasirabad to reopen our businesses and provide security, but no action has been taken. Only verbal assurances have been given.”

“We want to inform you that before Eid, more than 25 miscreants attacked and closed our shops. Upon ensuring police security, we reopened our shops, only to face firing and arson attacks on our shops. However, no case has been registered by the police,” continued Muhammad Usman.

He further added, “Miscreants are circulating threatening videos, brandishing weapons, and warning us not to resume our businesses. We have sent these videos to all senior police officers, yet no action has been taken. Currently, Dera Rahman Jamali and Nasirabad are at serious risk, but incompetent administration and police are taking no steps to ensure the protection of traders.”

“Where should traders go if the business community is forced to leave their properties? Why isn’t the government establishing law and order in Nasirabad?” questioned Muhammad Usman.

“We urge all traders through this press conference to appeal to CM Balochistan, Commander Balochistan, and IG Police to provide us with justice and protection. Otherwise, we will resort to severe protests,” concluded Muhammad Usman.
